Anke Nagel has held several senior leadership roles within the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA), serving as a Board Member for four years and as National Vice President from 2023 to 2025. She also chaired the MIA Regional Migration Committee and Advisory Panels during this time. She is the current president of the Queensland and Northern Territory branch of the Migration Institute and represents the Migration Institute of Australia on the National Alliance for Regionalisation, convened by the Regional Australia Institute.
A Registered Migration Agent since 2009, Anke brings extensive experience across many areas of migration law, specialising in employer-sponsored, skilled, and family visas, with a strong focus on regional migration pathways.
As a resident of Alice Springs since 1990, Anke is a passionate champion for the Northern Territory and regional Australia, advocating for improving migration outcomes in regional areas, and is widely recognised for her expertise in Northern Territory Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA).
Anke is a respected educator and mentor among Australian migration professionals. She regularly delivers continuing professional development (CPD) sessions to migration agents and immigration lawyers, and is committed to supporting and mentoring junior practitioners. In 2025, Anke was awarded Fellowship of the Migration Institute of Australia in recognition of her significant contributions to the Migration Institute of Australia, the migration profession, and the broader community, as well as her demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards.
Anke holds a Bachelor and Masters in Germanic Philology, a Graduate Diploma in Business Communications and a Graduate Certificate in Migration Law.
