The final SkillSelect Results for the month of January have been released online to the public. See what the most recent results say and how they affect your GSM visa application.
Results show the continuation of a downward trend of invitations since the beginning of the financial year.
Pro-rata arrangements continue with jobs in Accounting, IT and Engineering. Accountants and Auditors especially face difficulty in receiving invitations for 189 Visas as the 70-point threshold to apply remains in place.
The vast majority of invitations were awarded to those scoring between 60 and 70 points. This is of no surprise as it highlights the general nature of the application process with the bulk of professions remaining with the 60-point threshold. Naturally, the results at the higher end reflect the competitive nature of pro-rata occupations.
Yet again, this is why we recommend taking advantage of the points available to you. This is especially true if you are applying for a pro-rata occupation
A Word On…
The Engineering sector shows the most alarming results as two of the codes (Other Engineering Professionals (2339) and Industrial Engineers (2335)) approach 90% capacity. This has potential to give rise to an increase in the threshold points score, however, based on the current trend we do not believe this will be the case. More than likely, the rate at which invitations are issued for this occupation will begin to plateau.
Electronics Engineers currently are at 70% of the occupational ceiling. Even though it is the only pro-rata occupation to still have a required points score of 60, there is no reason to believe that things will change.
Accounting and IT Professionals also received further invitations during the month. As each of these occupations currently sit at around 70% of their occupational ceiling, there is sufficient room to move and we strongly believe that there will be no change to the professions in the coming rounds of applications.
There is an expectation that much of the SkillSelect Invitation Processes will remain the same for the foreseeable future.
The Importance of Score and Time
At PAX Migration, we have never hidden behind a curtain of complacency. We continually urge all those applying for GSM Visas to be prudent in calculating points and strive to score above the required point threshold, as we proactively do the same for you, our client.
Time and score will be rewarded.
1. Those with the highest points score will be the ones who receive an invitation to apply for a visa
2. Those who submit EOI’s and those who reach their points score at an earlier stage, will be given priority.
Be cautious as to your occupation group as it may fall under a pro-rata arrangement to maintain invitations being issued throughout the year. (This is largely due to demand.)
